#songbender part 40 – Mulder – The Hard Way
Well hello again and whatnot.
It appears the end of January is just a joke, as it always is. Well, what better song than to celebrate this (well i know an exact one but for this time we’re stuck with this one)
So let’s celebrate January as the Urban Jungle month (not that i want to designate months to styles, but now you tell me it might make sense)
so anyway, this is so Aphrodite to me like there is NO PERSON on this fkin earth that would tell me that all the urban jungle shit that I love so much was not done like by 3 people, MAX. And that doesn’t actualluy take away from the value at all, in fact, in my eyes, only GIVES MORE.
so just take a look at this. Urban Jungle is a parody. Right? I mean this shit was not serious. But it happened to become more serious than it was meant to be. Sorry. So that fkin BASSLINE will just justify ANYTHING. AAAA NYY THING. This coming from someone who had heard 2 or maybe 4 drum&bass tracks back in the day. I mean like, Urban Jungle was not the shit for most DNB expecting people.
But it was the SHIT for me.
SORRY.
So I’m very much prepared to say that YEAH MAN you know nothing about shit, and I still will come at you sayin that this piece of crap was way more valuable than all of the trash DNB that was so popular at the time.
Yep, there i said it, again. I don’t know where all these people get their substance from, telling all about what they know about dnb from this age, but let me tell ya: this was PUNK at that time. OK? and i like PUNK. i loved it, and have been lovin it ever since. And to me, urban jungle is the punk of the dnb. Which is absolutely fantastic and can not be reproduced ever, and nobody ever attempted, which raises the value, in my eyes. You can go and listen to all your pop shit, that’s up to you. But this, this had MIND in it. Just like we did it, back in those days. Well anyway.
I hope you get a vibe from the actual riff right there. THAT is urban jungle. Getting a sample from a hiphop song, chopping it up, making a low-effort dnb groove below, YES, we’re cooking. And it’s amazing. I love it. I don’t care if you don’t. You need some research. And some time. And some respect. Much of that.
So my people who actually listen to there, imagine yourself, what if this shit was in the radio? right? never will be. never was.
But now we had like 3 minutes of understanding.
catch you all next time.
